How layby works
The old-school way to buy something big without going into debt, made easy online. A little each week. Then it's yours.
Pick it
Choose what you want. The price you see is the whole price. No interest, no sign-up fee.
Pay it off
Choose a weekly or fortnightly amount from $15 and the payday that suits you. Change it whenever life changes, free.
It's yours
When your final payment clears we deliver it free, anywhere in New Zealand. You own it outright. No debt.
Work out your plan
Put in a price, pick an amount and your payday. We'll show you how many payments, when the first one is and when it's yours.
Choose your weekly amount
No interest, no fees. You can change this any time, free.
Your plan
40 weekly payments of $25
- First payment Thu 29 Oct 2026, paid off around 29 Jul 2027
- Delivered free by about 17 Aug 2027, once your final payment clears
The total never changes: no interest, no sign-up fee, no late fee. Pay more any week and you finish sooner.
A real-life example: Mia's $1,000 TV
An illustration of how a plan can go. The dates on your plan depend on your payday and the amount you choose.
Day one
Mia picks a $1,000 TV and chooses $25 a week, paid on Thursdays. Nothing else to pay, no credit check.
Weeks 1 to 15
$25 comes out each Thursday. She watches her balance drop.
Week 16
Mia gets a pay rise and bumps her payment to $50 a week. It's free to change.
Week 28
Final payment. The TV is paid off, months earlier than planned.
A few days later
It's delivered free to her door. It's hers outright. No debt, no interest paid.
Layby vs the other ways to pay
| Question | Layby with us | Buy now, pay later | Credit card | Rent-to-own |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it costs you | The ticket price. Nothing more. | Ticket price, plus late fees if you slip | Ticket price plus interest, often around 20% a year | Usually far more than the ticket price |
| Credit check | None | Often | Yes | Usually |
| If money gets tight | Pay less, take a break, or cancel | Late fees, and it can affect your credit | Interest keeps building | The goods can be taken back |
| When you get it | When it's paid off | Straight away | Straight away | Straight away |
| Debt at the end | None. You own it outright. | Until the last payment | As long as there's a balance | Until the contract ends |
A general comparison. Costs and terms for other products vary by provider, so check their terms. The trade-off with layby is simple: you wait for it, and in return you pay nothing extra and owe nothing.

Good questions
What is layby?
Layby is a way to buy something by paying it off first. You choose an item, pay small weekly or fortnightly instalments, and we deliver it free once it is fully paid. It is not credit, so there is no interest and no debt.
Is there a credit check?
No. Layby is not credit, so we do not run a credit check or ask for proof of income. You just need to be 18 or older, with a New Zealand delivery address.
How do I apply, and what happens after I apply?
Choose your item, pick an instalment and fill in the short online application. Nothing is charged when you apply. We will contact you, usually within one business day, to confirm your plan and set up your payments securely. Your layby starts once we send you the written layby agreement and you confirm it.
Do I have to be a certain age to apply?
Yes. You must be 18 or older to start a layby, and we ask for your date of birth to check. If you are younger than that, a parent or guardian can set up a layby in their own name.
Can I put more than one item on a plan?
Yes. Add the items to your cart and pay one combined instalment. Your payments go to the cheapest item first, and we send each item as it is paid off. You can also have up to 3 active plans at once, as long as your combined instalments are no more than $600 per week.
Are the products new, and do they have a warranty?
Every product page shows whether the item is new, refurbished or open-box, so you always know what you are getting. Most new products come with a manufacturer's warranty. Every item is also covered by the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. See Returns & Faulty Goods.
